Europe-wise/Europe-proof

A new initiative from ERAC, the University of Utrecht and Subpoort

Today's Europe isn't just about legislation and rules. Europe also offers opportunities, subsidies and networking. Local authorities however often don’t realise this. In other words: communities should become Europe-wise.

Europe can no longer be ignored in everyday community policy. Many local measures stem directly from European legislation and regulations. Local authorities will frequently - wittingly or unwittingly - act in conflict with this European legislation and regulations. This can have direct consequences and so must at all costs be avoided. This makes it important for local authorities to be Europe-proof.

Europe-proof and Europe-wise are two central concepts in modern local authority policy. But how can this be achieved? And who has the knowledge to make local authorities more Europe-proof and Europe-wise? ERAC, in collaboration with the University of Utrecht and Subpoort, has found the answer.
